Tonya Moore is a doctoral candidate focusing on literacy in exceptionalities at Appalachian State University. Additionally, she was a classroom teacher of Exceptional Children in North Carolina for four years. She earned her B.A. degree in special education from Appalachian State University and her M.A. in reading education, as an iSHINE scholar, with a focus on serving students with high intensity needs. As an undergraduate student, she assisted Dr. David Koppenhaver in research focusing on literacy in children with Down syndrome. Her current research projects include studies of: reading abilities in children with Williams syndrome and inclusive online literacy instruction for students with disabilities.
