Rachel Murphy is a mother, nurse, and lactation counselor. Her youngest daughter, Anna, is two years old and has Down syndrome. Anna was able to breastfeed after some challenges including duodenal atresia repair surgery. Rachel was inspired to help support other mothers who want to breastfeed their babies with Down syndrome and became certified as a lactation counselor (CLC). She is working toward IBCLC certification with the mission to share the message that babies with Down syndrome can breastfeed and just how beneficial it is. She connected with Julia’s Way, a local non-profit organization, to co-host a monthly breastfeeding support group for nursing, pumping, and expectant mothers of babies with Down syndrome. She is available to mothers in the MDSC community for breastfeeding support.
