Jillian Berube lives in Westminster, Massachusetts. She is a published writer whose work has been featured in A Room of Golden Shells: 100 Works by Artists and Writers with Down Syndrome and Reasons to Smile: Celebrating People Living with Down Syndrome. You can also catch Jillian on a commercial for NH Healthy Families! Jillian received a Certificate of Completion from Oakmont Regional High School and participated in the Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Program at Mount Wachusett Community College from 2009 to 2011 where she completed courses in Early Childhood Education, Speech, Psychology, and Musical Theater Dance. Jillian just celebrated her 10 year anniversary as an Associate at TJMaxx! When Covid is not happening, Jillian works with kids at local school and afterschool programs. She is working towards passing the HiSet Exam and is enrolled in Adult Basic Education courses at Mount Wachusett Community College.
Jillian is an active member of several self-advocacy groups – Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress Self-Advocate Advisory Council, Seven Hills Self Advocacy Committee, Arc of Opportunity Self-Advocacy Group, Central MA Regional Work Team in Worcester – as well as numerous boards and committees throughout the state – Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong Board of Directors, Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress Self-Advocate Advisory Council, Magic Moments Prom Committee Co-chair, Department of Developmental Services North Central Citizen’s Advisory Board, Massachusetts Partnership for Transition to Employment Self-advocacy/Self-Determination workgroup. Jillian was the recipient of the Mass Rehab Commission Reach Higher to Hire Distinguished Consumer Award in 2012 with TJMaxx and the Nancy Maynard Leadership Award in 2018.
