Jessica Avila, MSW, LICSW, is the Diversity Outreach Coordinator with the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress. Jessica is a resourceful Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience facilitating initiatives, including community outreach and advocacy across the lifespan. She specializes in the coordination and management of resources to effectively deliver quality services to a diverse client base. Jessica is passionate about providing care to at-risk and marginalized populations. She has a keen ability to connect with individuals utilizing a client-centered, strength-based, and empowering approach, encouraging and guiding individuals to find their voice. Her expertise includes: working with women of color to process phase of life change, transition to parenting/single parenting, life stresses, and next steps; psychosocial issues related to health and wellness, anxiety, depression, trauma, crisis intervention, reducing racial inequities in health care & improving cultural competence. She is a mom to two wonderful boys, her oldest son Gabriel and her youngest son Jacob, who has Down syndrome.
